Where can you find a Mecca in Russia to talk about the most innermost?You will find answers to these and many other questions in the documentary cycle “Oriental wives in Russia”.
They can't walk along the street without catching passers-by's sidelong glances, go inside a metro station without attracting the attention of the police. They are labbeled, but they simply want to love. Their husbands are Arab sheikhs, foreign managers, migrant workers and even forced migrants, who have found home beyond the Middle East. The project's shooting team has visited Saint-Petersburg, Samara, Vologda, Bryansk, cities in the Lower Volga Region and the Urals to find out, if it is really possible to be happy being an oriental wive in Russia.
The sequel of “Oriental wives” project will present the stories of girls, who have taken Islam and who are trying to build a family with an oriental prince in Russian environment.
